In April of 2006 my husband was incarcerated. I was left to fend for myself and my daughter... I turned to drinking to help take the pain away; a month later my daughter was removed by DHS. At first I could not get sober; at my rock bottom I moved into a recovery home, gave it all to God. Soon my life was starting to change for the better. I got my daughter back, then I received my utility bill. It was over $900. I was scared [that] if they turned my utilities off I might lose my daughter. I went to Northern Churches Care for help. They were awesome, God sent. Now I can rest assured I'll be okay.
